Notable Valley Hispanics
1995-2002
Notable Valley Hispanics are community leaders who were
nominated by their peers and recognized for their service in civic or
humanitarian activities. Nominations were limited to people who were born in or
living in the Lower Rio Grande Valley (Cameron, Willacy, Hidalgo, and Starr
Counties). The award was sponsored by the University of Texas-Pan American
Library and Friends of the Library. The ceremony took place during National
Hispanic Heritage Month.
Folders typically included nomination forms with the person's
biography and summary of civic and humanitarian activities, ceremony programs,
newspaper clippings and speeches.
